JUNIOR PAVER (LEVEL 2)

Requirements
In general, everybody will be admitted to attend the education (16 years and older), also drop-outs.

Training duration
The education takes two and a half years and can be followed with career guidance.

Description
This education teaches you how to pave roads. You learn about all sorts of pavements, such as bricks, natural stones, cobble-stones and tiles. You learn about the characteristics of these stones and you attend lessons about the different foundations. Before you pave a road, you have to make sure that the soil is levelled. This can be done by a machine. After that, you can place the stones and fix them with a rubber hammer. You should constantly measure whether or not the stones are even, using a spirit level. During the education you are being taught how to read blue prints, so that you know how to put the stones. You also learn about the tools and protection materials you need. Furthermore, there are lessons about particular details of road-surfaces, such as kerbs. You learn how to work with different machines in a safe way.

Oppertunities
Afterwards, you are able to apply for the course of paver (level 3). There are also different application courses and 35b courses.

Payment
The wage will be determined based on the Collective Labour Agreement within the company you work for. Furthermore, the wage depends upon your age.

Safety
By following the courses Basic Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors, Working safely along roads and Use your back in a safe way, you will learn how to work in a safe and responsible way.

Buildings
GOA Infra Group has different schools in de region. There are schools in Drachten and Assen. From December until April all students will follow practical lessons. Qualified coaches will guide the students in completing the practical tasks. These practical tasks will be practised and examined several times.
