ROAD WORKER (LEVEL 2)

JUNIOR SEWERAGE WORKER / ROAD WORKER (LEVEL 2)

Requirements
In general, everybody will be admitted to attend the education (16 years and older), also drop-outs.

Training duration
The education takes two and a half years and can be followed with career guidance.

Description
During this course, you learn how to construct sewer systems and roads. You learn how to read tube system drawings, underground. This is important, while you should be able to see where the new sewerages should be. After that, you learn how to construct sewer systems. First you dig slits for the sewerages. This can be done with a shovel or excavating machine. Then, you put the several parts of the tubes together, which makes one piece. This will be done by welding. When this is completed, the slits should be closed. You also learn how to work with existing sewer systems. You learn how to check them for cracks and holes. You also learn how to make roads equal and how to asphalt new roads. You operate different machines, and learn how to do this in a safe way.

The education contains 4 sub-qualifications, namely:
Working in Civil Engineering
Civil technical skills
Groundwork I
Sewer systems and Roads
You receive the certificate once you have successfully completed all the sub-qualifications.

Oppertunities
After completing this education, you will be able to attend the course of Sewerage worker/Road worker (level 3). There are also different application courses and 35b courses.

Payment
The wage will be determined based on the Collective Labour Agreement within the company you work for. Furthermore, the wage depends upon your age.

Safety
By following the courses Basic Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors, Working safely along roads and Use your back in a safe way, you will learn how to work in a safe and responsible way.

Buildings
GOA Infra Group has different schools in de region. There are schools in Drachten and Assen. From December until April all students will follow practical lessons. Qualified coaches will guide the students in completing the practical tasks. These practical tasks will be practised and examined several times.
